What We Do
We strive to support you in your weight loss journey, providing non- judgemental, evidence based guidance alongside the right medication for you in order to help you live a longer, healthier, fuller life.
Why Treat Obesity
Being overweight significantly increases risks of serious health conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and several cancers. Treating obesity also helps alleviate musculoskeletal issues such as joint and back pain, improves mental health, and enhances overall quality of life. The goal of treatment is to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, thereby lowering these risks, preventing complications and enhancing quality of life.
Follow Up Weight Loss Consultation
To ensure safe and appropriate care, we provide prescriptions only after a consultation. Should patients want to continue with their treatment, they generally arrange a follow-up appointment four weeks after their initial consultation.
What Are Injectable Weight Loss Medications?
Injectable weight loss medicines are usually taken once a week and are quick and easy to use. They can help to regulate your appetite and reduce cravings.
Medical studies have shown that they can be a very effective medicine to achieve weight loss when used alongside a reduced calorie diet, increased physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. Injectable medications have been shown to be up to 6 times more effective than traditional weight loss methods.
How do Weight Loss Medications Work?
The newest and most commonly used injectable weight loss medications are from the drug group GLP-1RA. Five GLP-1RAs are available to prescribe in the UK. These drugs contain an artificial version of a hormone called glucagon-like peptide 1, which is released from our gut after we eat. Mounjaro (tirzepetide) is a dual agonists, containing another artificial hormone, GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide).
Boosting our levels of GLP-1 with or without the addition of GIP can be very effective in helping us to develop healthy eating habits and lose weight. It does this in several ways:
- Regulates our blood sugar levels
- Tells our brain that we are full, reducing our appetite.
- Makes the stomach empty more slowly, helping us feel fuller for longer.
- Reduces our cravings, sometimes for more unhealthy foods.
How Does Our Service Work?
Simply complete our consultation form, make a booking for a virtual, telephone or face-to-face appointment. Your clinician will arrange the prescription, if appropriate, and it will be delivered to your door in discrete packaging. We will notify your GP. There is a £75 initial, non-refundable consultation fee then any follow up consultations would be charged at a fee of £55 which is also non-refundable.
Why Choose Our Weight Loss Service?
It is vital that you make the right choice for you when starting your journey to weight loss and improved health. Here are a few reasons why our service may be right for you:
- We are not an online pharmacy or budget provider of weight loss services. Our team includes a GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner with additional training in holistic weight management plans.
- You will see a clinician face-to-face or via a video call to have honest and supportive discussions about your weight and health goals, rather than simply filling in online forms to obtain medications.
- We don’t stop at your weight. We look at your overall health and wellbeing, and support your weight loss journey in the context of your general health and long-term risk of disease.
- We dispense medications directly to you, ensuring that you have a sustainable supply rather than having to search pharmacies for your medication.
- We work alongside other professionals to enhance your weight loss journey
Am I Eligible for Weight Loss Medications?
We offer weight loss injections in line with national guidelines, to adults age 18-75 with a BMI over 30, or a BMI over 27 with one or more weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease or sleep apnoea. They are not suitable if you’re pregnant or planning to get pregnant or have had a neo-endocrine tumour.
We will never guarantee a prescription of any medication until we have seen you and assessed whether it is the right treatment for you.
